We have received some additional guidance for students who have been selected for verification that need to provide a tax transcript
Requests by mail are no longer being processed
4506-T (by fax) are not being processed by the IRS
The only way to get a tax transcript is to use the “Get Transcript” online at IRS.gov if that doesn’t work----Most schools are now accepting a copy of a signed 2018 income tax form in replacement of a tax transcript so the student should call the school or the KHEAA verify (1 855-272-8771).
If it’s a KHEAA verify school. (a list of the KHEAA verify schools are included in the College Access Toolbox that was sent)
Students/parents that have to prove the Non-filing status – colleges are now accepting a short note that states that “they have attempted multiple times and have not received the non-filing letter from the IRS and a statement that says that in 2018 the individual did not work nor was required to file 2018 income taxes. The note needs to be signed by the individual and either uploaded, scanned or mailed to the financial aid office.
